靠(kào)谱(pǔ)
This word is originally from Northern dialect. Sounds better to pronounce this word with “r” sound at the end (kào pǔr).It is an adjective to describe someone or something reliable, trustworthy, or likely to happen. Now we use it to convey a highly positive judgement. Now there’s a popular talk show in China named after this word, called “非(fēi)常(cháng)靠(kào)谱(pǔ)”
[Synonym] 可(kě)靠(kào)
[Antonym] 离(lí)谱(pǔ)
Examples:
1. 这太不靠谱了。
Zhè tài bú kàopǔr le.
This is so ridiculous.
2. 这个解释挺靠谱的。
Zhè gè jiě shì tǐng kàopǔr de.
This explanation is reasonable.
3. 我们是最靠谱的中文学校。
Wǒmen shì zuì kàopǔr de zhōngwén xuéxiào.
We are the most reliable Chinese school. ^_^
