当局者迷,旁观者清。
dāng jú zhě mí, páng guān zhě qīng
This proverb is originally for a chess game. The 当局者indicates the players and the 旁观者indicates the watchers. And the literal meaning whoever watches a game of chess sees more clearly than the players. So it is extended to if one is personally involved in a matter, it is easy to blind oneself to the truth. However, if one is not involved the matter, it is possible to see things more clearly.
