POP Chinese - 圈人

quān rén
圈  人  - tag or @ someone

A new word that is recently been used in social media. It has the same meaning as "tag someone in the facebook album" or "@ someone on twitter".

When you say tag or @‘someone’ you say "圈了‘谁’ quān le ‘shuí’" in Mandarin。

Example:
1.
wǒ zài wǒ de xiàng cè lǐ quān le wǒ de hǎo péng yǒu Jennifer.
我   在  我  的   相    册 里 圈    了  我  的  好   朋    友   Jennifer。

I tagged my good friend Jennifer in my album.

2.
zhè shì zhēn yǒu qù, wǒ yào zài wēi bó shàng quān wǒ de
这    事    真   有   趣,我 要    在   微  博  上        圈   我  的
hǎo péng yǒu Jennifer gào sù tā
好    朋     友  Jennifer 告   诉  她。

This is funny,I need to @Jennifer and tell her this news on Twitter.

圈 means circle which is similar to the action of circling someone out of the picture and it looks like the symbol @ as well. That is why Chinese people use this word to represent tag & @.
