POP Chinese -- 粉丝

粉(fěn)丝(sī)

粉(fěn)丝(sī) is originally used as one of common foods in China, is made from green beans and sweet potato starch, and looks like thin noodles. It’s also the transliteration of the English word "fans" which refer to people who are infatuated by someone or something. In other words, "fans" refer to those who are crazy about somebody or something and go after them.

Nowadays on many social media platforms, such as Facebook, 粉(fěn)丝(sī) refers to the supporters of micro-bloggers and online community owners. The more粉(fěn)丝(sī) you have, the more widely your Facebook page or micro-blogs are read.

We hope you will be粉(fěn)丝(sī) of Toronto Mandarin School!
